Medicaid expansion has passed in Utah, and Utahns with incomes below 100% Federal Poverty Level are now eligible for coverage beginning April 1, 2019. An estimated 50,000 Utahns have become eligible for Medicaid-funded contraceptive services, including intrauterine devices (IUDs) and implants. Family Planning Elevated aims to address health center’s gaps in clinic-level capacity to meet the needs of the newly eligible patient population. We are hosting an annual Contraceptive Education and Training Conference to prepare providers and clinic staff on navigating increased clinic demand and patient volume and incorporating comprehensive contraceptive care into their health services. This conference provides an opportunity for all clinic staff members to learn about patient-centered contraceptive care.

Keynote speaker Maria Rodriguez MD, MPH, will be presenting on innovations in policy in Oregon, and her experience with the impact of Medicaid expansion in a neighboring state.
